From Forests to Chapels: A Welsh Adventure

It’s insane how you’re looking back one day, and you’re like: wow, I lived 10 years with this person. I’m deeply grateful for the past 10 years—for Sami, his unwavering support and patience, the lessons we’ve learned about ourselves and the world, and our shared faith. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without him. Yes, we had our 10-year weekend getaway.

This trip was so last-minute—we only booked it the day before we left! I have wanted to visit Moriah Chapel in Loughor for quite some time. We needed a destination for our celebration, so we ended up combining both.

I regret not visiting Wales earlier. It only takes 3 hours to drive from London. We left Thursday after work, got there around 11 p.m., spent the night in Cardiff, and then drove further down the country, where we spent the second night in Brecon.

We spent a lot of time in the car to get from one destination to another, but the landscape was so beautiful that we enjoyed every moment.

Lots of sheep, me saying every couple of minutes: ”Look, sheep” and lots of country music in the background.

Wales is gorgeous. Each corner of this beautiful place tells a story, making it an ideal destination for relaxation and exploration.

Vlog attempt

Yesterday, we explored Hafren Forest, and today, we visited Moriah Chapel, which I’ll share more about in a few days (I’m working on a blog article about it).

Peterstone Court, where we stayed last night, was also a standout; I won’t lie, the place felt a bit intimidating, like stepping back in time. I even wore heels for dinner!

Going back to the main reason for this weekend, I rarely talk about marriage, and that’s because I’m still learning about it; we’re still learning how to grow in this.

In 10 years, we only agreed to do one interview on marriage with one of our friends. But if I have to give one piece of advice on this, it will be to search God for yourself, and everything else will flow from that place.

Let God guide you in this, and use the Bible as the foundation for your marriage. This will sustain you through both good times and challenging ones.

Hafren Forest

As we return to London, I feel both refreshed and deeply grateful. This trip has been a beautiful reminder of the journey we’ve had and the adventures still to come.

Over a decade, you also learned to choose your battles in marriage, so I happily let him stay comfortably behind the camera; again, he did an amazing job. 🙂
